Become A Mentor
Mentors provide friendship, support, and act as real-life role models to help young adults between the ages of 13 and 17 who are living in Foster Care or have been adopted. Mentors assist teenagers with learning about and considering future options, making important decisions, living successfully in their communities and serving as a role model of success. The mentor's time commitment is two to three hours per week for at least one year.
Steps to becoming a mentor include:
- Completing the Mentor Application (PDF format)
- Scheduling an interview with Mentoring Program staff
- Providing (2) professional references
- Completing a State of Florida background check*
- Be fingerprinted with the local Police Department*
*Background Checks & Finger Prints are required in order to work with our children. Please contact the appropriate agency directly for current fees.
